revival.....again?

Greeting as yet still non existent readers! As much as I would enjoy the odd reader to this wandering and aimless look at the life of another of God's bizzare and unusual creations, I have decided to revive this blog as much to vent and put my thoughts out there for the unsuspecting web-using public to stumble over!

A whole world of things has happened since my last post. For local Victorians, we are happily no longer on fire, and with the amount of rain we have had already in December hopefully we will not have much of a fire season in Summer 2010-2011!

Also, around the world trip has been undertaken as well, which was not even on the cards when last I posted on this un-attended blogstream!! And all I can say is wow. We inhabit a vast and amazing world, full of interesting and exciting people and places, and it is awesome! I have to take my hat off to Contiki - that was one amazing trip, although it could be largely attributed to the people who we got to share it with, it was great to be able to share so many wonderful experiences with friends!! if in the vaguely unlikely instance that you were on the Contiki trip with me and Lonsy, Thanks, that was a brilliant experience, one that I will never forget!

After all that, I have very little to vent about at the moment. I will post again shortly, assuming the memory works and I remember to. Hopefully, next time I write, someone else will read. But who knows. It is for whoever, whenever.

Peace and Love.........

...then the rains come

For those who have been keeping up with the goings on in this part of the world, some may have noticed that we are on fire, not so unlike sex for the singer from Kings of Leon. I am still breathing the smoke, even though the fires are starting to get under control and be extinguished. It concerns me greatly the condition of my lungs after such a prolonged period of smoke inhalation. Such is the dangers and fear that has gripped me over the last week and a half, despite the fire being less than 6kms from my workplace.

Yet, the one thing we used to get all together too much of here, like so many other cities so far from the equator, is perhaps the answer to our current dilemma. Rain. I remember when I used to walk around High School in the winter time and it would be raining and cold, something the youth of today have yet to experience here in Aus. I am concerned that many learner and probabtionary drivers, convinced of there invincibility, have too little experience in wet conditions, and as such drive like maniacs on the 5 days a year where we actually get significant rainfall. Hence, Road Accidents.

Yet I digress. As noone is yet to subscribe to my blog, it seems I have started rambling. To me, this is good way to get things off ones chest, and often I find putting these things into words can help me to put things in a ordered frame in my mind.

I love Australia, I really do. We have a unique country, where all deserve a fair go, where life is better when we help one another, where sport is great (except AFL, not sure what is going on there), and the underdog has a chance. If the word patriot can be used to describe someone who is proud of his birthplace and culture, then I am indeed a patriot. And, I could not be more proud that our PM has shown so much emotion involving the financial crisis and the fire tragedy, it is nice that the man in charge can cry with the people in there hour of need as well!

Yet, lately there have been several things have made me question the reasons why I have not spread my wings and looked to other shores.

Basically, there has to be more out there. Not that my life is not full of fun and challenges and such, but there is more, and I am concerned that if I settle down now, I will never get to see what else there is in the world! I am a big fan of history. I find the gaps in my day filled with reading about cultures and stories about the great kings of history. I find myself looking back at the figures from the past, the stories of the ancestors of this particular mixed bag of cultural delights!

I love medieval history, with castles and knights and stories about heroes and the fantastical things they have done. I like looking at what people believed, and what made up there everyday lives. It is things like this, that make me contemplate the move. And also, as a fan of motorcycling, I would love to visit these places on a beautiful two wheeled machine! Although, the weather where I am looking at the moment is not welcoming to cyclists, as it is under Ice

...then the rains come
